Dry Eyes

Why our SafeSight LASEK procedure is better than LASIK if you have dry eyes:

Dry eyes after the older, cutting LASIK procedure is caused by cutting the LASIK flap. This cuts your corneal nerves, which decreases your blink rate. Dr. Chynn has conducted studies where the normal blink rate (every 5 seconds) is reduced (to every 10 seconds) after LASIK. Ever since his own LASIK over a decade ago, he has had some dry eyes–which is why he switched to SafeSight in 2005. With SafeSight, you avoid permanent dry eyes, because you are not cutting a flap, or any corneal nerves. Any dryness should be temporary, and will be treated with dissolvable collagen punctal plugs, and a high-quality artificial tear. You should take these tears several times a day for a few months postop–after this, you can just use them occasionally.
